The Flower Power Project

Jun 26, 2023

A new project is brewing. This one has come from my dear friend Nadia Danti’s brain and I was lucky enough to be invited to join in – it’s a goody.

It’s a seasonal project where we grow flowers (mostly dahlias) specifically to give away* to people doing meaningful work in our geographic community as a way of saying thanks for their good work. Also, it’s a project to create small explosions of joy and love in us and others. Why? Well firstly, why not! And also, because these are two of the most wonderful and needed ingredients to cultivate a good life.

So this winter we’re busy planning for spring planting so that we’ll have flower power action happening from summer through to autumn.

You can join in and support this project!

Right now we’re buying bulbs in preparation for spring planting. And then we had a thought “oh imagine the greatness if folks (that’s you) contribute some of their own dahlia bulbs!” If this is you (yay), get in touch here and we can organise how to collect them. This is only for people in lutruwita/Tasmania as we have strict biosecurity laws, meaning you can’t post us plant materials. Thanks so much in advance for joining in on the fun.

While some might think projects like this one are completely unnecessary, they’re actually completely essential for crafting joy amongst the not-joy that runs through the world. So here’s to more flowers, more gifting and more connecting with one another towards a good life and good world for all.

*Once the flowers are  “on” we’ll be selling a small number of bunches to cover costs, but otherwise all flowers will be gifted – which will be the vast majority of them.
