A full-day workshop on how to set up a productive small farm!

April 13th, 9am – 4pm

Join Nick Ritar from Milkwood at Fat Pig Farm for a day of farmy fun and learning that’ll get you started, or keep you going on living the good life on the land.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?

You’ll cover everything from design, water and grazing, fencing, weed control and fire safely, perennials and grasses, as well as the vital essentials of soil management.

WHO IS THIS WORKSHOP FOR?

This workshop is for hobby farmers and those who aspire to create a viable small-holding. Whether your aspirations lean towards commercial or environmental sustainability, this course will set you on the right path.

VENUE

Fat Pig Farm is nestled in Glaziers Bay, 10 minutes from Cygnet and is home to Sadie Chrestman and Gourmet Farmer, Matthew Evans. As a working farm, they run a market garden, mixed fruit and nut orchards, chickens, bees, some milking cows and raise pigs. They also have a delightful restaurant, open for weekly lunches and occasional cooking workshops.

HOW DO I GET THERE?

You’ll be provided with clear directions on how to get there prior to the course.

CATERING

We’ll provide you with morning and afternoon tea with a delicious farm lunch in the middle!

YOUR TEACHER

Nick Ritar is co-director of Milkwood – the globally renowned online education hub for teaching folks how to live like it matters. He has many years of hands on experience in designing, establishing and running small farms. When he’s not supporting others to live the good life you’ll find him in southern Lutruwita/Tasmania gardening up a storm on his half acre property with his family.

There is no refund available for this course. If you’re unable to make it we encourage you to pass your place onto friends or family – alternatively you’re welcome to put it towards one of our future courses.
