Home Harvest March 2, 2025: Host Call Out!

Jan 14, 2025

It’s that time of the year we’re we’re putting the call out for our next batch of garden hosts to feature in our 6th Home Harvest Edible Garden Trail!! That’s right, it’s been six years of garden glory. Enormous thanks to the City of Hobart for their ongoing support – er couldn’t do it without you!

To be a garden host you need…

  • A productive garden! This can be tiny, small, large or massive – there are no limitations on scale and we aim to show a large range of diverse gardens of all shapes and sizes. A productive garden can include vegetables beds, orchards, animals, compost systems – or it might be a balcony garden with one herb garden. We want them all!
  • To be either in, or close to the Hobart municipality.
  • Up for a chat – they’ll be a lot of questions on the day and you’ll be required to show people around and explain what’s happening in your patch.
  • Available on March 2nd for a set amount of hours. The hours you open your gate are up to you and will be clearly promoted so people only come in this time.
  • Passionate about growing food in urban spaces!
  • You can be a private garden or a community space and we wholeheartedly welcome people who are renting.
  • Your garden should be a real, productive garden – it does not have to be picture-perfect. Visitors want to learn and get inspired, and if you meet all the above criteria, your garden will be perfect as it is.

What support do Garden hosts receive?

  • There is a small fee to reimburse you for your time of $100.
  • We will provide you with a “Home Harvest” host sign that can be attached to your fence/gate so people know you are part of the tour and can easily find you.

Is Home Harvest free for folks?

  • Yes, for people wanting to come along on the day there’s no charge at all.

    Hi Hannah,

Sorry to reach out through here – your email which Nikki Long provided keeps bouncing back.

Touching base to introduce myself being new into the St Lukes events team and to gauge your interest in some upcoming initiatives.

I’d love to get a quarterly/seasonal session happening about what’s in season/what to grow etc and bringing in a gardening aspect to our nutrition based events – would love to hear your thoughts on any ideas too!

Let me know if interested and we can go from there.

    Thanks in advance,

    Saga

The Platypus Party
